Intro

Like a good introductory paragraph in a Seton essay, I am going to state the purpose, or thesis, of this blog. Like a bad introductory paragraph for such an essay, however, I will be using the first and second persons, as well as referring back to the work at hand. Ahem.
The purpose of this blog is to keep all y'all (another faux pas-- contractions) updated on my European sojourn. I mean to give detailed anecdotes of both my adventures and misadventures; I will also be including pictures. Yes, pictures. I am very good at collecting and hoarding those things. Ask anybody. :-)
Naturally, I will not start any real posting until at least September the sixth, when I leave the country for the "continent," as les Brits call it.
As far as the name of this blog goes (because you are no doubt wondering why on earth I chose this name), I just sort of felt like naming it after my all-time favorite of the Gregorian Chants: Media Vita in Morte Sumus. Not the most cheerful of songs, but 'tis a very good piece of chant. Does this have anything to do with my going to Rome? Not really, but that's okay. Well, I guess you can go from "media vita" (in the middle of life) to "midway on the path of life" from Dante's Inferno, and then compare my journey to Dante's Divine Comedy.... Which would be amusing, I dare say.
And now I will stop my ramblings, although I could probably go off on ten more tangents. Until September!
